Uno studio randomizzato controllato con placebo (RCT) con un campione di > 1000 pazienti affetti da febbre da fieno ha riscontrato che l’uso del medicinale omeopatico Galphimia glauca è significativamente superiore rispetto al placebo e con tassi di successo simili agli antistaminici convenzionali, ma senza effetti collaterali [12] .

L’omeopatia è, inoltre, risultata benefica nel migliorare la qualità della vita e ridurre l’affaticamento e migliorare la valutazione funzionale delle terapie croniche per il cancro o il punteggio FACIT-G nei pazienti oncologici [13,14].

Un miglioramento significativo dei sintomi del cancro o degli effetti avversi delle terapie antitumorali convenzionali come nausea, insonnia, depressione, ansia, astenia e vampate di calore è stato osservato in una clinica omeopatica finanziata dalla Regione Toscana a Lucca, Italia [15 ].

È stato dimostrato che l’Arsenicum Album omeopatico è efficace nel ridurre l’avvelenamento da arsenico nell’uomo [16,17].

L’omeopatia, in un approccio integrativo con la medicina convenzionale, è stata utilizzata anche per il trattamento dell’HIV / AIDS nell’Africa orientale [18]. Una meta-analisi riportata su Lancet ha indicato che gli effetti clinici dell’omeopatia non sono puramente dovuti all’effetto placebo [19]. Altri hanno anche segnalato effetti specifici sul trattamento non placebo [20-23].

Risultati positivi simili sono stati dedotti da vari studi randomizzati e da altri studi sull’omeopatia [24,25]. Tuttavia, gli RCT di trattamento omeopatico individualizzato devono essere di qualità migliore per resistere ai critici che equiparano l’omeopatia al meglio con l’effetto placebo [26-28].

La conclusione e l’interpretazione variano spesso a seconda di ciò che si è disposti ad accettare come informazioni scientifiche [29] e inoltre, come risultato di pregiudizi della comunità scientifica contro l’omeopatia, è più facile pubblicare in letteratura risultati negativi sull’omeopatia che quelli positivi [30].

La mancanza di intuizioni meccanicistiche ha spesso tormentato gli studi sull’omeopatia, come le scoperte non spiegate che le diluizioni omeopatiche degli anticorpi anti-IgE causano la degranulazione dei basofili umani [31] e le ultra diluzioni di istamina inibiscono l’attivazione dei basofili [32].

Negli studi su animali, la Ruta Graveolens omeopatica e l’Hydrastis canadensis hanno portato a una riduzione del 95,6% e del 95,8% del tumore Ehrlich Ascites e del Linfoma ascite di Dalton (DLA) e hanno aumentato la vita degli animali portatori del tumore, rispettivamente del 49,7% e 69,4 %  [33]Lo stesso studio ha riportato che l’Hydrastis omeopatico somministrato per via orale, ha inibito significativamente la crescita dei tumori DLA, con 9 su 15 animali portatori di tumore che raggiungevano la completa remissione del tumore.

C’è stata una significativa attività anti-metastatica negli animali portatori di melanoma B16F-10 trattati con Thuja, Hydrastis e Lycopodium omeopatici [33].

Il Sabal serrulata omeopatico ha diminuito significativamente la proliferazione delle cellule PC-3 del carcinoma prostatico umano e delle cellule DU-145 e ha ridotto significativamente la crescita dello xenotrapianto del tumore della prostata nei topi [34].

Ruta omeopatica, Hydrastis, Lycopodium, Thuja, Chelidonium, Natrum sulphuricum, Colesterinum e Carcinosinum hanno mostrato effetti immunomodulatori mentre inibiscono la carcinogenesi indotta chimicamente [35,36] e l’epatotossicità nei ratti e nei topi [37-39].

Condurango omeopatico è stato trovato adatto a modulare diversi geni pro e anti-apoptotic relativi a una via apoptotica mediata da caspasi-3 in tumori polmonari indotti da benzopirene nei ratti [40,41].

In vitro Carcinosinum, Phytolacca, Conium e Thuja sono risultati essere citotossici per le linee cellulari di adenocarcinoma mammario MCF-7 e MDA-MB-231, causando ritardo/arresto del ciclo cellulare e apoptosi [42].

Thuja omeopatico ha avuto azione nel migliorare significativamente il danno al DNA indotto dal benzopirene in cellule polmonari normali di topi [43].

Condurango omeopatico ha causato l’arresto del ciclo cellulare in fase G1, una riduzione dell’attività dell’istone deacytyase 2 e la sintesi del DNA, ed ha indotto modificazioni epigenetiche e alterato il profilo di espressione genica nelle cellule cervicali di HeLa [44,45].in vitro

I rimedi omeopatici Conium maculatum, Sabal serrulata, Thuja occidentalis, Asterias, Phytolacca e Carcinosinum non hanno avuto effetti misurabili sull’espressione dei geni relativi alla crescita cellulare o all’apoptosi nelle linee cellulari di cancro alla prostata (DU-145, LNCaP, MAT-LyLu) e linea cellulare di cancro al seno MDA-MB-231 [46].

Tuttavia, Gelsemium sempervirens omeopatico è stato in grado di modificare l’espressione di 56 geni, di cui 49 sono stati down-regolati e 7 sono stati sovraespressi in cellule di neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y umane; alcuni dei geni regolati in basso appartenevano alle vie di segnalazione dei recettori accoppiati a Gprotein, all’omeostasi del calcio e alla risposta infiammatoria e ai recettori neuropeptidici [47]

In altri studi è stato riferito che nonostante il trattamento omeopatico rallenti significativamente la progressione del cancro in vivo con una riduzione dell’incidenza e della mortalità del cancro [48], non vi sono effetti distinti dello stesso farmaco omeopatico sulle cellule tumorali in vitro e nessuna alterazione dell’espressione genica correlata all’apoptosi o citochine [49] nei tessuti tumorali di cui sopra.

Le recenti intuizioni sul potenziale meccanismo d’azione delle ultra-diluizioni omeopatiche scientificamente non plausibili, si basano sull’evidenza della presenza di nanoparticelle della sostanza originale che persistono in tutte le potenze di una medicinale omeopatico anche al di là del limite teorico di Avogadro [50-52].

La presenza di materie prime di partenza in forma di nanoparticolato è stata confermata inequivocabilmente in diluizioni molto elevate come> 1023 diluizioni. Chikramane e altri hanno dimostrato che una volta che la concentrazione di massa è inferiore ad un livello soglia di pochi ng / ml tutte le nanoparticelle levitano alla superficie e sono sistemate come un monostrato nella parte superiore dove sono conservate e portate alla fase successiva, formando così una concentrazione asintotica. Pertanto, affermano che tutte le diluizioni sono solo apparenti e non reali in termini di concentrazioni delle materie prime di partenza [53].

La nanoparticella specifica della sostanza di partenza, nella formulazione omeopatica può trattare le infezioni tramite una migliore bio-disponibilità e avere effetti antiinfiammatori, antiossidanti e immunomodulatori [54].

La sostanza potenziata può anche modificare i propri effetti farmacologici modulando la risposta dell’ospite [55]L’omeopatia era, inoltre, sotto i riflettori quando il dott. Luc Montagnier – scopritore del virus dell’HIV – riferì sulle alte diluizioni (cioè 1010 e 1012 diluizioni) di sequenza di DNA batterico e virale che formando specifiche nanostrutture sono responsabili dei segnali elettromagnetici che possono trasferire informazione [56].

Trovare un armamentario terapeutico più sicuro ed efficace contro il cancro rimane una sfida continua. La recente scoperta della presenza di nanoparticelle in medicinali omeopatici potrebbe, quindi, fornire la motivazione e un ulteriore impulso per la realizzazione di RCT ben studiati e studi preclinici al fine di risolvere la questione dell’efficacia dell’omeopatia nel trattamento del cancro e possibilmente essere parte della futura medicina integrativa nell’offrire un modo sicuro, privo di tossicità ed efficace per combattere il cancro, oltre a comprendere il meccanismo d’azione di tale terapia.
